across disciplines, regions, and institutions. From theory to practice, it explores all things related to sound. It also operates a Sound Lab in the School of Design, SUSTech Shenzhen.

Xuehua Fu is a PhD student in the MSCA doctoral network “VoCS”– Vocal Communication Sciences. Her research focuses on auditory & multisensory perception and interactive sensory technologies. In her PhD, she investigates crossmodal perception in human voice and develops human-computer interface to augment vocal communication–both informative and expressive.
With a background in Computer Science and in Sound Studies, her work bridges computing, perception, and interaction design, aiming to support embodied sensory experience of human beings, potentially extending beyond humans.
As a former research assistant at the Sound Studies Group, SUSTech, she leads, together with Marcel Zaes Sagesser, the research project “Urban Sound.”
