The Sound Studies Group is an international academic team dedicated to sound studies across disciplines, regions, and institutions. From theory to practice, it explores all things related to sound. It also operates a Sound Lab in the School of Design, SUSTech Shenzhen.

Siying Wei



Siying Wei is an industrial design researcher working on sound interaction, product design, and health-oriented design. She received her Master’s degree in Industrial Design Engineering from Wuhan Institute of Technology. Her research focuses on Five-Element music therapy, interactive approaches to health and wellbeing, and the design of products for companion birds.
Her research examines the role of sound and music in emotional experience and motivation, as well as design approaches for human–animal interaction in care and wellbeing contexts. She also works on game-based and interactive systems for health and rehabilitation, with a focus on feedback mechanisms that support user engagement during recovery.
