This is the Sound Studies Group at the SUSTech School of Design, Shenzhen. It is led by Dr. Qiushi Xu and Dr. Marcel Zaes Sagesser. Our research focuses on sound in relationship with technology, the environment, and human listening. It includes sound technology, sound studies, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), sound design, philosophy of science and technology, spatial audio, interactive audio, and creative media. The output of this team is published in prestigious international journals, at domestic and international conferences, and at international exhibitions and concert halls.

Simeng Wang




Simeng Wang is music producer, arranger, composer and spatial audio researcher. She graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2019, majoring in Contemporary Writing and Production, and minoring in Writing for Television and New Media. Simeng earned a master's degree from the Music Technology graduate program at New York University in 2023, where she explored innovative composition techniques in the immersive audio field. She focused on studying computer music, electroacoustic and spatial audio technologies, as well as theoretical aspects. She is  is dedicated to expanding the boundaries of creative composition techniques in the music technology field.

With a diverse background in the music industry, her work experience spans game audio, commercial music production and music licensing field. Her works have been featured in award-winning commercials by 4A advertising agencies Ogilvy, BBDO and others with Longxi golden award, 4A Grand Prix, Cresta Bronze award.
