AI technologies are rapidly permeating everyday life, profoundly reshaping how we perceive, produce, and interact with sound. From generative audio systems and voice synthesis to intelligent sound design and algorithmic listening, AI sound technologies not only transform auditory experience but also challenge existing social structures, ethical norms, and value systems.
This research project focuses on contemporary AI sound technologies, examining both their current impacts and their potential future implications for human life. Through critical analysis, case studies, and interdisciplinary perspectives from sound studies, philosophy, and ethics, the project explores key questions around agency, authorship, responsibility, and power embedded in intelligent sound systems. At the same time, it reflects on the risks and challenges that accompany technological optimism, asking how we might engage with AI sound technologies in more reflective, responsible, and human-centred ways.
