This is the Sound Studies Group, a loose and idependent group of likeminded sharing an interest for researching various aspects of the world through the lens of sound. The group is led by Dr. Qiushi Xu who is an assistant professor at the SUSTech School of Design in Shenzhen, and Dr. Marcel Zaes Sagesser who is Academic Director of Audio and Visual Media at St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, Austria. 

Our research focuses on sound in relationship with technology, the environment, and human listening. It includes sound technology, sound studies, philosophy of science and technology, humanities research, sound design, spatial audio, interactive audio, and creative media. The output of this team is published in prestigious international journals and proceedings, at international conferences, and in exhibitions and concert halls.

Bo Dong





Bo Dong is an external collaborator of the Sound Study Group at the School of Design, SUSTech. She holds a bachelor degree in Interaction Design Arts from the University of the Arts London. Currently she is based in London, advancing her academic pursuit by participating in the MArch Design for Performance and Interaction programme at the Interactive Architecture Lab, which is under the Bartlett School of Architecture of University College London (UCL).

Driven by a desire to become a multimedia designer and practitioner, Bo is motivated to explore the pluralities in innovative technologies and multisensory design. She aspires to incorporate technology into her artistic practice, challenging the interrelationship of multiple perspectives in the world of contemporary art.
