The Sound Studies Group is an international academic team dedicated to sound studies
across disciplines, regions, and institutions. From theory to practice, it explores all things related to sound. It also operates a Sound Lab in the School of Design, SUSTech Shenzhen.
Bo Dong
Interaction Designer
Freelancer in Chengdu, China
Bo Dong is an interaction designer specializing in digital media and interactive experiences. She holds a BA in Interaction Design Arts from the University of the Arts London and an MArch in Design for Performance and Interaction from the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London. Through her cross-disciplinary practice bridging art, environment, and technology, Bo creates immersive, multisensory experiences that engage both body and emotions. She also explores how innovative digital tools can transform storytelling and expand the expressive potential of new media.
In the Sound Studies Group, she was the co-leader (together with Marcel Zaes Sagesser) of the Low-Tech CitySound project. The project was first presented as a workshop at the SeeDliNG Fair, exhibited at the 20th China International Cultural Industries Fair (CICIF) at the Longgang Innovation Center in Shenzhen, later exhibited at the CHI Art Gallery 2024, then exhibited at the Hands-On-Sonic-Skill conference at Martin Luther University of Halle an der Saale (Germany) in 2025, and published as an academic pictorial in the IASDR Journal in 2026.
