The Sound Studies Group is an international academic team dedicated to sound studies across disciplines, regions, and institutions. From theory to practice, it explores all things related to sound. It also operates a Sound Lab in the School of Design, SUSTech Shenzhen.

Bingqing Chen is a PhD student in Human-Computer Interaction in the HER Lab at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. Her research focuses on emotion, sound, and interaction in virtual museums and cultural heritage contexts. She explores how voice, soundscapes, and multimodal interaction can evoke emotional resonance, foster social presence, and enrich meaning-making in digital cultural experiences.

Her work investigates the use of emerging technologies such as virtual reality and generative AI to design expressive and personalized museum interactions. Combining artistic sensibility with technical development, Bingqing designs and implements interactive systems and conducts user-centered studies. Her research bridges sound studies, HCI, and museology, aiming to create emotionally engaging and experientially rich digital heritage environments.
